If Automotive Imports is The Ninja Turtles, Tony would be our Master Splinter. He is typically the first one in and the last one out— apparently he’s the only one that knows the security codes. You could not ask for a more helpful person to work with, and a quick browsing of our Google reviews proves that. Tony is our most senior salesperson, and even after five years, he still gives 110% to everything he does. Like so many of us who were influenced by the JDM craze following the original Fast and the Furious, Tony was full blown enamored with rice burners. But, with age comes maturity, and he now appreciates all cars; specifically luxury sedans. Whether you are an employee or customer, Tony is always there to help.
When Taniessa first started driving she had a very old, embarrassing, run-down beater of a car. Thus, if she wanted to afford a nice car, her Dad (also a big car nut) insisted she must learn to fix anything that went wrong… and believe me, she is not afraid to get her hands dirty! Tinkering on cars, ultimately led to a greater appreciation and passion for them. When she first applied here, it wasn’t for a sales position–something she had never considered–but it was clear that her passion, kindness, and knowledge would bring her success… as well as access to the tools to continue modifying her car. Taniessa is a Colorado Native, but very eager to travel–and by travel, I mean driving really fast. Outside of work you’ll usually find her with her puppy, Juju, at a concert, snowboarding, or catching speeding tickets in her bright yellow Z and obnoxiously pink gear on her motorcycle.
Kendall grew up on a coffee farm in Hawaii, but spent his summers taking road trips across the rest of the country, which led him to Colorado. After meeting his future wife, he decided to call CO home. Kendall shares the same love of cars as everyone here, but took his love a step further by attending a three-day rally school in Washington. Though he’s too reserved to show off his driving skills, he is always plotting his next 1,000+ mile road trip. Even though he grew up in Hawaii he admits his snowboarding skills far outshine his ability on a surfboard… (he’s never surfed!)
Cameron is a Colorado native, originally from Evergreen, CO. His parents bought a BMW when he was 7 years old, and it was love at first sight! Road trips with the family would quickly turn into Cameron naming the make and models of passing cars based on their headlights. He is, what some might call, “obsessed!” After attending the University of Colorado at Boulder, Cameron chose to move into the auto industry and start his career in the German car trade. When he’s not watching car videos on YouTube or taking his BMW to the mountains, he enjoys traveling to the home of these vehicles; Europe. His mom lives in France for 6 months out of the year, and he has always dreamed of living in Germany and traveling the Autobaun at ridiculously high speeds.
Joe was born in southwest Colorado, but spent his formative years in Denmark and Texas. He is a car nut through and through, and can often be found arguing with Josh about which car would win on which track. His passion for cars is rivaled only by his love of helping others. While he’s clearly an Audi-guy, he’s always working hard to help his clients find the right vehicle for them. He’s also a big sports nut. And while he may look a little bro-y, he is one of the least talented outside shooters you will ever see, and his only strength in golf is hitting the long ball. Joe also strongly believes that vehicles designed without speed limits in mind (read ‘for the Autobahn’) are the best kind of vehicles.
Khai is the newest member of our sales team. Though he’s been with us a while now, we don’t have much turnover, so he’s gonna be the “**** new guy” for a while. Like Tony and Josh, Khai grew up loving the JDM scene, and his passion for tuner cars led him to work at an Acura dealership. But it wasn’t for him, and he left the industry for nearly a decade before Tony brought him aboard with us, and now he’s part of our family. Thankfully, during that time his love of cars expanded to European cars, and he hit the ground running!
Josh is our Resident Car Nerd and Marketing Manager. His obsession for cars borders on the annoying, and is almost as bad as his obsession with music. But least his car knowledge can be helpful. You can typically find him hiding in coffee shops, working on his book, like every other hipster in Denver. He’s also incredibly passionate about raising awareness about mental health. If you need more detailed information about a vehicle, he’s your man–just don’t get him started on music.
Joe has been our Service Manager since we opened our service department. Being the son of our Shop Foreman, Jimmy, meant a love of cars was there from day one. He has been managing service centers since he was 23, and he knows his stuff. The only thing more impressive than his knowledge of cars is his oh-so epic beard. His love of cars runs DEEP. When he’s not leading his BADASS service crew or tinkering on one of his hotrods, he’s either cruising with his family in his hotrods or with his car club, The Denver Junkies… cruising hotrods.
The 6’5″ Surprise! Arnold has been with us since almost day one. After earning his BS in Business Management from Metro State University, Arnold worked worked dabbled in the snowboard industry before his love of cars brought him here. He is easily the happiest and friendliest person you will ever meet. His love of cars is dwarfed only by his love of tattoos–of which he has some of the most amazing sleeves in Denver. He’s definitely the best kind of hipster; something that you can’t deny when you see his smile behind the wheel of his pristine E34 wagon.
“Tarnue likes Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain. He’s not much into health food, but he is into champagne. He wants to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape, at a bar called O’Malley’s, where he’ll plan his escape”… He also isn’t a fan of getting me his bio when I needed it, so until he realized what I put, this is staying online.
Jimmy has been in the automotive industry for 30 years, and his passion for European cars definitely shows. Everything from owning to servicing, his knowledge for these cars extends far beyond what most can comprehend. He started his career at Ralph Schomp BMW, and for 19 years held the title of master BMW technician and ASE master technician; receiving numerous awards, including the regional & national winner for BMW North America. After a while, Jimmy decided he needed a change and went on to open an independent shop, Tillery Imports, which then grew into Station Automotive. It was during that time he trained a young Dave. After 10 years, Dave–who was just starting Automotive Imports, reached out to Jimmy to help set up what would become the shop we have today. He is still our shop foreman, and is always happy to help in any way… just don’t be surprised if he sprays you with brake cleaner.
Scott began his career in the automotive industry piecing together cars and pickups getting as much horsepower out of every used swap meet find or junkyard part while in high school in SW Iowa. Having limited resources financially he squeezed the most out of every engine keeping a rebuild kit on hand with spare bearings of various sizes for a spare crankshaft in the event of the occasional catastrophic failure. Financial resources being very meager the alternative resources of knowledge and abilities came into play assembling 351 Cleveland engines early in the quest for more then migrating to 428, 429 and then 460 cubic inch displacement Ford power plants. Braking systems during those years and poor suspensions made for terrifying experiences as the horsepower mounted.
Fast forward nearly 4 decades, a handful of bad decisions in the interim repairing heavy trucks, lawn mowers and everything in between the bad decisions landing him in Denver turned in to one of the best decisions made in his career. Finding his niche in the “Fussy European Market” as his typical response for his trade, he now works on most European makes and models performing every task including service work, ZF transmission repairs, NAG transmission repairs, drive ability diagnostics and major engine repairs. Don’t ask him to do tires as the shop would hemorrhage financially as the last round of tires cost a TPMS sensor and required nearly two hours of his time.
When not at work you will find Scott in an Automotive Imports jersey and bibs riding his bicycle by himself, in a group or on a tandem with a friend or one of several blind friends keeping fit and enjoying the outdoors. Scott tends to put more miles on one of many bicycles during the year as the average national consumer does their automobile.
Nick likes tinkering on pretty much anything mechanical. Oh, and avoiding people. So we just keep him near what he’s best at: working on complex cars. He probably enjoys other things, but wouldn’t divulge what…
Jacob is our newest Master Technician, and a patient one at that. We are pretty meticulous about who we hire, and Jacob showed that he not only has an intimate knowledge of the types of vehicles we service, but has the passion to continue learning. He is definitely an AMG Mercedes fan at his core, but has a love of 4x4s too. And like all Coloradans, he loves getting away from the city and into the mountains as much as he can.
After graduating from KU, Kiley quickly decided she didn’t really have an interest in joining the corporate world. Luckily for us, she found her way into our little family and has been the linchpin keeping us organized and on track. To try and narrow down everything Kiley does would take all day. Suffice to say, it’s a lot. While she loves Denver, she’s most comfortable in the mountains or adventuring away from civilization.
Nick grew up here in Denver in an automotive family with high hopes to one day rise to the same level of accomplishment as his grandfather and uncles. After graduating from CU Boulder in 2006, he spent the next nine years working significant time in just about every department of a conventional car dealership. It was through this that he realized he loved everything about the automotive business….except for the automotive business. He believes there are a lot of holes to be filled and there is a better way of doing things and sees AI as the perfect platform. Though he has many roles and responsibilities in the company, his main area of focus is in acquisitions. In other words, he spends a majority of his time analyzing market data and relentlessly scouring the country for cars to ensure we are always stocked with the freshness. Though Nick has loves cars and what he does, his passions extend far beyond just the scope of his work. Outside of work Nick enjoys travel, food, weird music, and wild and crazy experiences- most of which is shared alongside his wife. He is also an avid runner and cyclist and maintains the opinion that a Specialized S Works Tarmac is just as cool as a Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
Dave is our resident plumber, IT department technician, problem solver, and lastly, happy to be doing what he loves for a living. Dave realized from a young age that if he did not work in the automotive industry he would be flat broke from spending all of his money on cars. Dave has a degree in automotive marketing, and previously worked for a franchise Audi and VW dealership. After years of watching the inefficiency and customer frustration inherent with the current automotive retail experience, Dave founded Automotive Imports. Automotive Imports offers a novel and refreshing experience for its customers with the assistance of an amazing team. Dave may be spotted in a M3 or Jaguar vastly exceeding posted speed limit signs.
